Haiti Earthquake

Take a few moments to connect our work on plate techtonics with current events. Go to the USGS site and search Haiti earthquake. There are some great maps showing the strike-slip fault that precipitated the quake and the subduction zones around the area between the Caribbean and North American plates.

Luckily for the low islands in the area a tsunami did not result.

Take a moment and send positive energy to the living things of the area. Especially the rescue workers who will attempt to save lives in the poorest nation in the Western Hemisphere. Then give an extra hug to your own people tonight and be thankful for the blessings that surround us.
